Customizing your Workspace-Custom Toolbars
Step One: On your main menu go to View>Customize to get the
customization window. Go to Toolbars.
Tip: Right clicking on any tool bar will bring up the customize option.

Step 2: Click on New. Name your new toolbar. We are going to make a Selections toolbar.
Step 3: Once you've named your toolbar click OK.

You'll see your new toolbar added to the list of current toolbars and the new toolbar will appear.

Step 4: Move your new toolbar off to the side. Click on Commands. Go to Selections on the left side.

Step 5: Drag the options you want from the right side over to your new toolbar. Select All, Select None, and Invert will go on your toolbar as icons, Modify will go on as text and will give you a drop down menu. You can add more commands later. Click on Close.

Step 6: Drag your Selection toolbar up next to your Standard toolbar, or wherever you'd like to keep it.

Step 7: If you don't care for the nested tools you can create a second toolbar for the left side of your screen also. Just create another toolbar and place it next to your current one for tools. You can drag tools from one to another. Don't worry about making a mistake, you can always Reset a toolbar and bring it back to it's original settings.

You can add icons to any of the standard toolbars and the layer palette. You can even add icons to the top menu bar.

Step 8: When you've finished customizing you have to save your workspace.
Go to File>Workspace>Save
name your new workspace and click Save.
Any time you
make a change to your workspace you have to save it.
