Customizing your Workspace-Setting up

Step 1: The very first time you open PSP you may wonder how you'll get anything done in that small area. The Learning Center is a big help for new users but it takes a lot of room. You can get it out of your way and still keep it handy. 

Click on the Auto Hide push pin at the top of the palette.

The Learning Center is now closed and still docked alongside your toolbar. If you mouse over it, it will open.

Step 2: You can do the same for the Browser, the Materials Palette, the Layer Palette and the Tool Options Palette. See how much room you've gained and everything is still there. If you want one of the palettes open all the time just click the Auto Hide push pin again. 

Step 3: You can change the look of your Layer Palette also. This is what you should have when you first use PSP.

If you prefer you can have this look.

Go to File>Preferences>General Program Preferences.

Click on Palettes. Under Layers Palette check Right Pane. Set the size of the Palette Thumbnails to 35. 

Step 4: One last thing to make things easier. Go to File>Preferences>Autosave Settings. Check Enable Autosave.

Step 5: Now you have to save your new workspace.
           Go to File>Workspace>Save name your new workspace and click Save.
           Any time you make a change to your workspace you have to save it.
           When you have multiple workspaces the preferences you set will apply to all your workspaces.
