It can take years to learn how to make them properly. There's definitely
an art to sticking a bar of steel into a 2000 degree fire and hammering
it into shape at an anvil. One also has to learn the principles of good
design, balance and flow, heat treating, edge geometry, stabilization of
natural materials, fit and finish, etc., etc.
