This tutorial is NOT to be scripted or made into a "Quick Guide" unless it is for your own personal use.

Just an idea for using gradients

Start with an image 800 X 150 pixels.

Layer one-Ace Gradient set to Linear-Repeats0-Angle 0 degrees

Layer two-Phantom Gradient set to Linear-Repeats0-Angle 90 degrees
Set the Layer Blend Mode to Dodge

Go to Layers>Merge>Merge Visible.
Go to Layers>Duplicate.
Go to Edit>Copy.
Go to Edit>Paste>As New Image.
Go to Image>Rotate. Check All Layers, Rotate 90 degrees.

Go to Image>Resize.
Use these settings.

Copy the small image and Paste as a New Layer over your first image.
Click on your Mover Tool and move the new layer over to the left edge.

Go to Layers>Duplicate.
Go to Image>Mirror.
That will place a strip on the right edge.

Click on the first strip again.
Duplicate it and move it to the right.
Duplicate and Mirror that strip.

Do that one more time.

Open your Layer Palette and click your bottom layer to activate it.
Go to Layers>New> Raster Layer.
That will give you a new layer under your strips.

Open your Layer Palette, make sure the new layer is the active one.
It should be highlighted and named Layer 7.
Go to Selections>Select All.
Go to Effects>3D Effects>Cutout.
Use these settings. Color White.

Go to Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur.
Set to it to 10.
Lower the Opacity to about 75.

That's it, your tube is done.:)

Add a new layer under Layer 7 to place things in your tube.

To change the color of your tube, add a new layer to the top, Flood Fill with a gradient and set the Layer Blend Mode to Color.

Experiment, and have fun!
