Corona Text Effect

tutorial is NOT to be scripted or made into a "Quick
Guide" unless it is for your own personal use. |

To do this tutorial you will need a working knowledge of PSP. If you are
new to PSP, or have a problem doing this tutorial, you can find me at Raven's
PSP forum, be happy to help you out.

Open a new image 450 x 300, transparent background.
Add your text as Vector Text.
I used Bell MT, size 48, Stroke Null, Fill Black
|
|
|
|
On your Main Menu, go to Objects>Align> Center on Canvas.
On your Main Menu, go to Selections>Select None.
On your Main Menu, go to Layers> Convert to Raster.
|
|
|
On your Main Menu, go to Selections>Select All.
Go to your Tool Bar, click on your Magic Wand
and then click on your text to select it.
|
|
|
|
If you have Eye Candy 4, use the Corona filter>Magnetic
Flux>Change the color to White.
Click OK.
On your Main Menu, go to Selections>Select None.
If you don't have Eye Candy, click here.

On your Main Menu, go to Layers>New Raster Layer, click OK.
Go to your Tool Bar, click on your Tube Tool ,
find your fire tube, change the Scale to 75%.
Add some flames to the upper half of your image, semi-cover your text.

On your Main Menu, go to Layers>Duplicate. Then go to
Image>Flip.

|

|
|
Open your layer Palette, and click on the glasses for
your text layer.
You'll see a red X and you won't see your text on the image.
On your Main Menu, go to Layers>Merge>Merge Visible.

|
|
On your Main Menu, go to Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur, use 5.5 for
the Radius.
|
|
|
Open your layer palette, click the red x to bring your text back.
Drag the merged layer under the text.
|
|
|
On your Main Menu, go to Layers>New Raster Layer, click Okay.
Go to your color palette and set it for using a gradient.
Select my Haze Gradient.
Use these settings, make sure you check Invert gradient.
Go to your tool bar, click on your Flood Fill Tool ,
and fill your new layer with the gradient.

Make sure your new layer is highlighted when you Flood Fill.
You should name your layers, but I never do. Layer 2 should be your
text, Layer 3 your gradient.

On your Main Menu, go to Layers>New Raster Layer, click OK.
Flood fill that layer with dark blue (or whatever your page background
is), drag it to the bottom on your layer pallet.
On your Layer palette, right click on Layer 3, from the drop down menu,
click on properties.
Change the Blend Mode to Color.

Go to your Tool Bar, select you Magic Wand
and click on your Merged Layer.
|
|
|
On your Main Menu, go to Selections>Invert.
Then Selections>Modify>Contract, set it at 10, click OK.
Back to Selections>Modify>Feather, set it to 10, Click OK.
On your Main Menu, go to Selections>Invert, then go to
Edit>Clear.
On your layer Palette click on Layer 3, on your Main Menu, go to
Edit>Clear.
If you hover your mouse over the layer, you can see the result of
hitting clear.
That's it. On your Main Menu go to
Layers>Merge>Merge Visible, and you're done.
