Rings

See this image as a wallpaper.

This tutorial is NOT to be scripted or made into a "Quick Guide" unless it is for your own personal use.

To do this tutorial you will need a working knowledge of PSP. If you are new to PSP, or have a problem doing this tutorial, you can find me at Raven's PSP forum, be happy to help you out.

You also need Sandy Blair's Offset by 3 filter. You'll find it in the zip file for Simple Filters.

Optional: Download these three gradients. You can use other gradients if you want a different look.

Open a new image, 500 X 500, Transparent background.
Flood Fill  with the Spa gradient.

On your Tool bar, click on the Selection tool .
Make a small circle selection in the left corner.

Keep it selected.
Go to Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel.
Use these settings.
Go to Selections>Select None.

Thanks to Raven for the settings.:)

Make another circle selection a little larger than the first, just overlapping it.
Use the Inner Bevel again. Deselect.

Note: If you need to move your selection, before you add the bevel, click on the Mover tool . Right click on your selection, drag it into position.

Select a third larger circle, center it  across the image.
Watch the bottom left corner of your workspace.
Hover your mouse over the center of your image.
When you see the first number at 250, start selecting your circle.

Repeat the bevel. Deselect.

Uncheck Antialias in the tool option box and select the rectangle shape.
Make your rectangle selection just over the last two circles, bevel  it. Deselect.

Go to Effects>Edge>Find Vertical.

Go to Layers>New Raster Layer. Click OK.
Fill the new layer with the Gauze gradient.

Set the Layer Blend Mode to Color.

Activate Layer 1 by clicking on it in the layer palette
Go to Layers> Duplicate.

Make sure that Copy of Layer 1 is now the active layer.
Go to Effects>Plugin Filters. Find the "Offset by 3" filter, listed in your Simple Filters.
Change the Layer Blend Mode to Screen.

Repeat, duplicate your last copy, use the "Offset by 3 filter" and set to screen.
I did that 8 times, but use whatever number of repeats look good to you.

When you finish adding rings, right click on one of your layers.
You'll see a drop down menu. Go to Merge>Merge Visible.

Go to Layers>Duplicate.
Go to Image>Mirror.
Set the Layer Blend Mode to Screen.

Basically your rings are now done.
Right click on one of your layers.
Go to Merge>Merge Visible.

Add a new Raster Layer.
Fill with the Recess gradient.

Set the Layer Blend Mode to Overlay to give it a nice gold look.

Activate your merged layer by clicking on it in the layer palette.
Go to Effects>Illumination Effects>Sunburst.

These are the settings I used, but adjust them to your own preferences.
 I used the color #E8D8C6.

Go to Effects>Illumination Effects>Lights.
Again, use these settings as a guideline. Change them to suit your image.
I used white as a color, but other colors give some interesting results also.

Note:  "Flash" or "Sunset" are good starter settings.

That's it, you're done.:)
