| This tutorial is
NOT to be scripted or made into a "Quick Guide" unless it is
for your own personal use.

| To do this tutorial you will need a working knowledge of PSP. If you are new to PSP, or have a problem doing this tutorial, you can find me
at Raven's PSP
forum, be happy to help you out. |

This is the background I started with.
You can copy and use this one, or choose one of your own.
Always best to work on a copy, not the original.
I added one of Jasc tube cats to focus on.

Go to Layers>New Raster Layer.
Open your layer Palette, set the Layer Blend to Multiply.
You won't see any change, the layer will still look black.
Go to Effects>Illumination Effects>Sunburst.
Use these settings for the light, but use your mouse to move the light
(the + sign in the preview window) over whatever you'd like to focus on.
If you only see black, click the "eye". That shows the preview
of your effect.
When you get it positioned, click OK.

|
|
|
|
Open your Sunburst lighting again.
Increase the size of the light, decide where your light is coming from.
Position it and click OK.

|
|
|
|
Open your Sunburst lighting again.
This time decrease the size of the light.
Put it far away from your incoming light.
Click OK.
You can keep doing that until you are happy with your image.

Using different color lights and patterns can be interesting, too.

|
|
This came out a little too dark.
To lighten it up, go to Colors>Adjust>Brightness/Contrast.
Experiment with settings.
Another way to lighten it up.
Go to Effects>Illumination Effects>Lights.
Click on the background layer and use the Custom setting>Red Fill.

Experiment, and have fun!
