PSP Gold

I also wrote a Quick Tip called The Midas Touch for turning almost any object into Gold.

This tutorial is NOT to be scripted or made into a "Quick Guide" unless it is for your own personal use.

To do this tutorial you will need a working knowledge of PSP 8. If you are new to PSP 8, or have a problem doing this tutorial, you can find me at Raven's PSP Forum, be happy to help you out.

This is an easy tutorial, I've included many screen shots to try to show each step in detail.

Step 1

Open a new image, any size is fine. You just need it to activate the menus.

Step 2

Go to Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel.
Find the Metallic Setting.
Click the icon to the left of the eyes to close the preview screens.

Step 3

You need a screen shot of the dialog box.
On your Keyboard press Alt + PrtScn, that will send a copy of the dialog box to your clipboard.
Click Ok to close the dialog box.
Go to Edit>Paste>Paste as New Image.

Your dialog box is now Image 2 on your workspace.

Step  4

Go to Layers>Duplicate.
You'll be adding effects to "Copy of Background".
Go to Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel.
Apply the Metallic Bevel to your screen shot.

Step 5

Go to Effects>Artistic Effects>Contours.
Use these settings.

Step 6

Go to Effects>Artistic Effects>Glowing Edges.
Use these settings.

Step 7

Go to Effects>Artistic Effects>Chrome.
Use these settings.

Step 8

Go to Adjust>Color Balance>Black and White Points.
Find the preset Gold Tone.

Step 9

Open your Layer Palette.
Click the small arrow next to normal, go to "Multiply".

Step 10

Now it should look pretty good except for the very top.

Click on your selection tool.

Go to your Tool Options Palette.
Set it to Rectangle, Feather 1.
Make a selection over the top section.

Change the Mode on the Tool Ribbon to Add.
Make another selection on the blue area below the bar.

Note: Set the Mode back to "Replace" when you finish.
If you forget you won't be able to make a selection next time you try.

Step 11

Go to Selections>Promote Selection to Layer.
Go to Selections>Select None.
Go to Layers>Merge>Merge All.
Go to Adjust>Edges>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask.
Experiment with the settings.
This is what I used.

That's it, you're done..:)

If you don't know what to do with your PSP Gold, you might try using it to design an interface. Just an idea..:)

Experiment, and have fun!
